CVSS v3.1 |
Payload is a free and open source headless content management system. In versions from 3.0.0 before 3.90.0 and canary versions before 4.0.0-canary.34, a malformed multipart request body can cause multipart Content-Type processing to take an extremely long time, resulting in uncontrolled resource consumption. This issue is fixed in versions 3.90.0 and 4.0.0-canary.34.
Quasar Framework is a framework for building high-performance Vue.js user interfaces. Prior to 2.23.3, Platform.parseSSR() passed an unbounded User-Agent request header to getMatch() in ui/src/plugins/platform/Platform.js, whose browser-detection expressions combined greedy captures with repeated unbounded scans. Platform belongs to autoInstalledPlugins, so this parsing occurs before routing for every SSR request. A crafted unauthenticated request containing repeated version tokens without a terminating Safari token causes super-linear backtracking and blocks the Node.js event loop, delaying every other SSR request. SPA, PWA, Electron, Cordova, Capacitor, browser-extension, and static-site-generation targets are not affected because they do not parse an attacker-controlled request header through this path. This issue is fixed in version 2.23.3.
Twisted is an event-based framework for internet applications, supporting Python 3.6+. In 25.5.0 and earlier, wildcardToRegexp() in twisted/mail/imap4.py translates the IMAP asterisk and percent wildcards but passes all other characters from an authenticated client's LIST or LSUB pattern directly to re.compile(), allowing nested or otherwise expensive regular expression constructs to cause catastrophic backtracking when matched against mailbox names. Because Twisted uses a cooperative single-threaded reactor, the blocking match suspends all server input and output for the duration of the match. No fixed release is available as of this review.
| Inefficient Regular Expression Complexity (CWE-1333) in Elasticsearch can lead to denial of service via Regular Expression Exponential Blowup (CAPEC-492). The ES|QL CHUNK function's recursive chunking strategy accepts a list of user-supplied regular expressions used as text-splitting separators, without validating their computational complexity or bounding their execution time. An authenticated user with read access to any text-based index can submit a specially crafted regular expression that triggers catastrophic backtracking, consuming excessive CPU on Elasticsearch worker threads and degrading query throughput for other tenants on the affected node. The cluster does not crash as a result of this issue. |
Ghost is a Node.js content management system. From 5.37.0 until 6.67.0, a crafted request to the external media inliner could cause excessive CPU usage, making the Ghost server unresponsive. Exploiting this requires Administrator access. This issue is fixed in version 6.67.0.
Ghost is a Node.js content management system. From 4.0.0 until 6.67.0, a crafted content import file could cause excessive CPU usage, making the Ghost server unresponsive. Exploiting this requires Administrator access. This issue is fixed in version 6.67.0.
Mammoth.js 1.3.0 before 1.12.3 contains a regular expression denial of service vulnerability in the style map tokeniser in lib/styles/parser/tokeniser.js due to overlapping regex alternatives. Attackers can supply a crafted .docx with an unterminated quoted string of repeated backslash escapes in mammoth/style-map to block the Node.js event loop.
crmne/ruby_llm at commit fa6f279847d6d7027814539d9c0dfc3bbdfd2a83 contains a polynomial-time regular expression denial-of-service condition in Mistral model capability matching on Ruby 3.1.x
probe-image-size gets image dimensions without downloading the entire file. Prior to 7.4.0, lib/parse_sync/svg.js and lib/parse_stream/svg.js use the searching regular expression /<[-_.:a-zA-Z0-9][^>]*>/, which repeatedly scans to the end of input when attacker-controlled data contains many less-than characters without a closing greater-than character. The synchronous parser converts and scans the full supplied buffer without an input cap, while the streaming parser reparses the complete accumulated SVG prefix for every received chunk. The probe.sync(), probe(stream), and probe(url) entry points can therefore block the Node.js event loop at full CPU, and attacker-controlled chunking can amplify the streaming cost. This issue is fixed in version 7.4.0.
| Inefficient regular expression complexity, Inefficient Algorithmic Complexity vulnerability in Apache Thrift Lua bindings.
This issue affects Apache Thrift: before 0.25.0.
Users are recommended to upgrade to version 0.25.0, which fixes the issue. |
YesWiki before 4.6.7 contains an algorithmic-complexity denial of service in the wakka.php formatter due to an O(n^2) markdown-link regex. Unauthenticated attackers can submit a small crafted body of bracket characters to the page-edit preview endpoint to pin PHP-FPM workers and saturate the pool.
geopy is a geocoding library for Python. Prior to 2.5.0, geopy.Point and Point.from_string() can spend excessive CPU time due to inefficient regular-expression behavior when an application passes a long malformed coordinate string without the 256-character input limit used by the fix. Geocoder reverse methods also reach the vulnerable parsing path when called with string inputs. Repeated attacker-controlled requests can cause a denial of service, while the numeric Point constructor is unaffected. This issue is fixed in version 2.5.0.
In JetBrains YouTrack before 2026.2.19197 reDoS attack was possible via mailbox regex mail-rule filters
basic-ftp is an FTP client for Node.js. Prior to 6.2.1, Client.list() can be forced by a malicious or compromised FTP server to spend quadratic CPU time parsing a directory listing because the RE_LINE expression in src/parseListUnix.ts backtracks across adjacent variable-length owner and group fields when a long Unix-style line has a valid prefix but cannot satisfy the later size and date fields. parseList() selects a parser from the last nonblank line and then applies it to every line, so a normal final line can select the Unix parser while an earlier crafted line blocks the Node.js event loop and freezes the process. This issue is fixed in version 6.2.1.
A flaw was found in dash. When built without libc fnmatch, the internal pmatch() matcher implements * by unbounded recursion over candidate positions. A local user who can plant filenames, or otherwise feed that matcher, can make a short multi-star pattern such as *.*.*.*.*.tar.gz consume excessive CPU.
anchorme through 3.0.8 contains a regular expression denial of service vulnerability in the IPv6 host extraction regex due to catastrophic backtracking. Attackers can supply specially crafted input strings with repeated patterns to cause exponential regex engine backtracking, blocking the Node.js event loop and denying service to other requests.
A flaw was found in `guardrails-detectors`, a component of Red Hat OpenShift AI. This vulnerability, known as Regular Expression Denial of Service (ReDoS), allows a remote attacker to provide specially crafted regular expressions to the public detection API. This can cause catastrophic backtracking, leading to a worker process consuming 100% CPU indefinitely and resulting in a denial of service for the entire guardrails-mediated LLM pipeline.
RabbitMQ is a messaging and streaming broker. From 4.0.0 until 4.0.23, 4.1.14, 4.2.9, and 4.3.3, the optional rabbitmq_jms_topic_exchange plugin's x-jms-topic exchange accepted a client-controlled rjms_erlang_selector binding expression whose LIKE evaluator expanded percent and underscore wildcards into overlapping PCRE fragments. It executed those fragments with raw re:run/3 without match or recursion limits, allowing an authenticated tenant that can bind and publish to consume broker scheduler CPU and deny service with pathological selectors. This issue is fixed in versions 4.0.23, 4.1.14, 4.2.9, and 4.3.3.
PyJWT is a Python implementation of JSON Web Token standards. Prior to 2.14.0, PyJWT is_pem_format is affected because lazy PEM regular expression backtracks extensively. This occurs when a certificate-like input contains repeated BEGIN markers without a matching END marker. As a result, is_pem_format performs unbounded backtracking while searching for a PEM end marker. Consequently, an attacker can cause intensive CPU consumption. This issue is fixed in version 2.14.0.
JLine is a Java library for handling console input. From 3.0.0 until 3.30.15 and 4.3.1, DefaultHistory.matchPatterns(String patterns, String line) in reader/src/main/java/org/jline/reader/impl/history/DefaultHistory.java converts the HISTORY_IGNORE configuration value into a Java regular expression while escaping only part of its syntax, allowing other regex metacharacters to reach the backtracking engine. An attacker who can control application or user configuration can supply a nested-quantifier expression that is reevaluated whenever a command is added to history, consuming excessive CPU and indefinitely blocking the reader thread. This issue is fixed in versions 3.30.15 and 4.3.1.
