CVSS v3.1 |
Sparkle is a software update framework for macOS. Prior to version 2.9.2, `Autoupdate/SUBinaryDeltaApply.m` enforces `relativePath.pathComponents containsObject:@".."` and rejects writes whose immediate parent directory IS itself a symbolic link, but does not detect symlinks deeper in the relative path. `Autoupdate/SPUSparkleDeltaArchive.m`'s `extractItem:` will create symlinks in the destination tree from archive content (no `..` check on the symlink target), and a subsequent `Extract` item targeting `<symlink>/foo/bar` then escapes the destination tree via `fopen(path, "wb")` because the kernel resolves the intermediate symlink during the open call. This is a defense-in-depth issue: exploitation requires a maliciously-crafted `.delta` that passes EdDSA signature verification, i.e. EdDSA private-key compromise. With the AppInstaller running as root for system-domain installs, it gives the holder of a stolen signing key arbitrary file write at root level via the delta-apply path, which is a strictly broader primitive than the "drop-in replacement bundle" install they would otherwise have. Version 2.9.2 contains a patch for the issue.
BuildKit's cache mount source= selector on Windows Container on Windows (WCOW) workers does not detect NTFS directory junctions placed inside the cache root. A build authored by an untrusted user on a WCOW-configured BuildKit daemon can read arbitrary host files reachable to the BuildKit daemon process.
IBM Engineering AI Hub 1.0.0, 1.1.0, and 1.2.0 could allow a remote attacker to obtain sensitive information due to the exposure of session tokens in URLs.
Windows Storage Elevation of Privilege Vulnerability
A vulnerability was found in AstrBotDevs AstrBot up to 4.25.5. Impacted is the function _normalize_rw_path of the file astrbot/core/tools/computer_tools/fs.py of the component Filesystem Computer-Use Tool. Performing a manipulation results in link following. The attack is only possible with local access. The exploit has been made public and could be used. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way.
A vulnerability was detected in django-tastypie up to 0.15.1. Impacted is the function ApiKeyAuthentication of the file tastypie/authentication.py. The manipulation results in use of get request method with sensitive query strings. The attack can be launched remotely. This attack is characterized by high complexity. The exploitability is considered difficult. The project was informed of the problem early through an issue report but has not responded yet.
A vulnerability was identified in nearai ironclaw up to 0.29.1. The affected element is the function validate_path of the file src/tools/builtin/path_utils.rs of the component write_file. The manipulation leads to link following. Local access is required to approach this attack. The exploit is publicly available and might be used. The identifier of the patch is 369ff3d240cf3c0787b50e1e9f182e1a06c71255. It is recommended to apply a patch to fix this issue.
Activepieces is an open source AI workflow automation platform. Prior to 0.82.0, the git-sync feature clones a user-configured Git repository into a temporary directory on the server and then writes flow, table, and connection state into it before pushing back, and two separate weaknesses allowed those writes to escape the intended workspace and land on arbitrary paths on the host filesystem: Git's symbolic-link handling was not disabled on the clone, so an attacker who controlled the remote repository could include symlinks that redirected the writes, and several user-supplied identifiers used to build on-disk paths (the repository slug and the externalId of tables, flows, and connections) were not validated against directory-traversal sequences such as ../. On a self-hosted Enterprise Edition deployment, a user authorized to configure or push to a git-sync repository (holding the WRITE_PROJECT_RELEASE permission) could cause the server to overwrite files anywhere the Activepieces process user can write, which depending on host layout can be leveraged for tampering, denial of service, or remote code execution. This issue is fixed in version 0.82.0.
ImageMagick before 7.1.2-26 and 6.9.13-x before 6.9.13-51 contains a policy bypass vulnerability in the -script operation due to missing security policy checks. This allows reading files from paths that are otherwise disallowed by the configured security policy.
| A security flaw in the router's certificate validation process was
discovered in the NETGEAR XR1000 Gaming Router and certain Nighthawk models that could allow an unauthorized person to remotely access and take
control of the device. |
Improper link resolution before file access ('link following') in Windows Routing and Remote Access Service (RRAS) allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally.
Improper privilege management in Windows WalletService allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally.
Improper link resolution before file access ('link following') in Windows Projected File System allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally.
Improper link resolution before file access ('link following') in Microsoft PC Manager allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally.
NanoClaw before 2.1.17 contains a symlink following vulnerability in forwardAttachedFiles that allows container-controlled agents to exfiltrate host-readable files. The host validates attachment filenames using only isSafeAttachmentName before copying with fs.copyFileSync, which follows symlinks without containment checks, allowing malicious agents to disclose arbitrary host files.
ProFTPD through 1.3.9b and 1.3.10rc2 contains an access control bypass vulnerability that allows authenticated FTP users to circumvent Directory ACL restrictions by prefixing paths with /proc/self/root in the RNFR command handler. Attackers can exploit the unresolved symlink components in dir_canonical_path() to cause dir_check() to perform lexical path comparisons that match no configured Directory block, enabling rename operations on files in DenyAll-protected directories and subsequent retrieval of those files. Mitigation: Sessions configured with DefaultRoot (chroot) are not affected, as chroot changes the directory to which /proc/self/root resolves.
Improper link resolution before file access ('link following') in Universal Plug and Play (upnp.dll) allows an authorized attacker to disclose information locally.
Improper link resolution before file access ('link following') in Windows Server Backup allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally.
Improper link resolution before file access ('link following') in Window PC Manager allows an authorized attacker to elevate privileges locally.
Hermes WebUI prior to v0.51.221 contains a path traversal vulnerability that allows attackers to escape the workspace boundary by supplying symlinks that resolve to files or directories outside the designated workspace root. Attackers can exploit the workspace file and listing APIs, which resolve symlink targets without enforcing that the final path remains within the workspace, to read external host files accessible to the server process and disclose sensitive data such as SSH keys, cloud credentials, or application tokens.
