CVSS v3.1 |
Unquoted search path within AIM-T Manageability Service can allow a local attacker to escalate privileges, potentially resulting in arbitrary code execution.
An unquoted executable path exists in the Rockwell Automation FactoryTalk® Remote Access™ possibly resulting in remote code execution if exploited. While running the FTRA installer package, the executable path is not properly quoted, which could allow a threat actor to enter a malicious executable and run it as a System user. A threat actor needs admin privileges to exploit this vulnerability.
In Electronic Arts Dragon Age Origins 1.05, the DAUpdaterSVC service contains an unquoted service path vulnerability. This service is configured with insecure permissions, allowing users to modify the executable file path used by the service. The service runs with NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM privileges, enabling attackers to escalate privileges by replacing or placing a malicious executable in the service path.
A weakness has been identified in VeePN up to 1.6.2. This affects an unknown function of the file C:\Program Files (x86)\VeePN\avservice\avservice.exe of the component AVService. This manipulation causes unquoted search path. The attack requires local access. A high degree of complexity is needed for the attack. The exploitability is reported as difficult. The vendor was contacted early about this disclosure but did not respond in any way.
Local privilege escalation due to unquoted search path vulnerability. The following products are affected: Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud Agent (Windows) before build 39378.
Alps HID Monitor Service 8.1.0.10 contains an unquoted service path vulnerability that allows local attackers to potentially execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges. Attackers can exploit the unquoted path in C:\Program Files\Apoint2K\HidMonitorSvc.exe to inject malicious executables and gain system-level access.
An Unquoted Search Path vulnerability has been identified in the utility for Moxa’s industrial computers (Windows). Due to the unquoted path configuration in the SerialInterfaceService.exe utility, a local attacker with limited privileges could place a malicious executable in a higher-priority directory within the search path. When the Serial Interface service starts, the malicious executable could be run with SYSTEM privileges. Successful exploitation could allow privilege escalation or enable an attacker to maintain persistence on the affected system. While successful exploitation can severely impact the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected device itself, there is no loss of confidentiality, integrity, or availability within any subsequent systems.
RATOC RAID Monitoring Manager for Windows provided by RATOC Systems, Inc. registers a Windows service with an unquoted file path. A user with the write permission on the root directory of the system drive may execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM privilege.
Multiple NAS management applications provided by I-O DATA DEVICE, INC. register Windows services with unquoted file paths. A user with the write permission on the root directory of the system drive may execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM privilege.
NAS Navigator2 Windows version by BUFFALO INC. registers a Windows service with an unquoted file path. A user with the write permission on the root directory of the system drive may execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM privilege.
| The Windows service configuration of ABP and AES contains an unquoted ImagePath registry value vulnerability. This allows a local attacker to execute arbitrary code by placing a malicious executable in a predictable location such as C:\Program.exe. If the service runs with elevated privileges, exploitation results in privilege escalation to SYSTEM level. This vulnerability arises from an unquoted service path affecting systems where the executable resides in a path containing spaces.
Affected products and versions include: ABP 2.0.7.6130 and earlier as well as AES 1.0.6.6133 and earlier. |
BarcodeOCR 19.3.6 contains an unquoted service path vulnerability that allows local attackers to execute code with elevated privileges during system startup. Attackers can exploit the unquoted path in the service configuration to inject malicious executables that will run with LocalSystem privileges.
Realtek Andrea RT Filters 1.0.64.7 contains an unquoted service path vulnerability that allows local users to potentially execute arbitrary code with elevated system privileges. Attackers can exploit the unquoted path in 'C:\Program Files\IDT\WDM\AESTSr64.exe' to inject malicious code that would execute during service startup or system reboot.
Electron is a framework for writing cross-platform desktop applications using JavaScript, HTML and CSS. Prior to versions 38.8.6, 39.8.1, 40.8.0, and 41.0.0-beta.8, on Windows, app.setLoginItemSettings({openAtLogin: true}) wrote the executable path to the Run registry key without quoting. If the app is installed to a path containing spaces, an attacker with write access to an ancestor directory may be able to cause a different executable to run at login instead of the intended app. On a default Windows install, standard system directories are protected against writes by standard users, so exploitation typically requires a non-standard install location. This issue has been patched in versions 38.8.6, 39.8.1, 40.8.0, and 41.0.0-beta.8.
ProtonVPN 1.26.0 contains an unquoted service path vulnerability in its WireGuard service configuration that allows local attackers to potentially execute arbitrary code. Attackers can exploit the unquoted path by placing malicious executables in specific file system locations to gain elevated privileges during service startup.
PTPublisher 2.3.4 contains an unquoted service path vulnerability in the PTProtect service that allows local attackers to potentially execute arbitrary code with elevated privileges. Attackers can exploit the unquoted path in 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Primera Technology\PTPublisher\UsbFlashDongleService.exe' to inject malicious executables and gain system-level access.
TotalAV 5.15.69 contains an unquoted service path vulnerability in multiple system services running with LocalSystem privileges. Attackers can place malicious executables in specific unquoted path segments to potentially gain SYSTEM-level access by exploiting the service path configuration.
Vulnerability related to an unquoted service path in Small HTTP Server 3.06.36, specifically affecting the executable located at 'C:\Program Files (x86)\shttps_mg\http.exe service'. This misconfiguration allows a local attacker to place a malicious executable with the same name in a higher priority directory, causing the service to execute the malicious file instead of the legitimate one. Exploiting this flaw could allow arbitrary code execution, unauthorized access to the system, or service disruption. To mitigate the risk, the service path must be properly quoted, and systems must be kept up to date with security patches, while restricting physical and network access.
SANUPS SOFTWARE provided by SANYO DENKI CO., LTD. registers Windows services with unquoted file paths. A user with the write permission on the root directory of the system drive may execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM privilege.
Outline 1.6.0 contains an unquoted service path vulnerability that allows local attackers to potentially execute arbitrary code with elevated system privileges. Attackers can exploit the unquoted service path in the OutlineService executable to inject malicious code that will be executed with LocalSystem permissions.
